Who am I?

A twenty-something black woman fed up with the degradation and subjugation black women are faced with each day. It's time we stand up and demand better. It's time for a revolution!

My short skirt
My short skirt is not an invitation
a provocation an indication that I want it
or give it or that I hook.My short skirt is not begging for it
It does not want you to rip it off me or pull it down.My short skirt is not a legal reason for raping me,
although it has been before it will not hold up in the new court. My short skirt, believe it or not has nothing to do with you.
I’m black and I’m proud
They take my kindness for. . . . . WEAKNESS.
They take my silence for. . . . . SPEECHLESS.
They consider my uniqueness. . . . . STRANGE.
They call my language. . . . . . SLANG.
They see my confidence as. . . . . CONCEIT.
They see my mistakes as. . . . . DEFEAT.
They consider my success. . . . . ACCIDENTAL.
They minimize my intelligence to. . . . . POTENTIAL.
My questions mean I am. . . . . UNAWARE.
My advancement is somehow. . . . . UNFAIR.
To voice concern is. . . . . DISCONTENTMENT.
If I stand up for myself I am too. . . . . DEFENSIVE.
If I don't trust them I am too. . . . . APPREHENSIVE.
I am defiant if I. . . . . SEPARATE.
I am fake if I. . . . . ASSIMILATE.
My character is constantly. . . . . UNDER ATTACK.
Pride for my race makes me. . . . .TOO BLACK.Because we just can’t trust politicians!
What is a liberal?
If by a "Liberal" they [opponents] mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal." ~JFKArchives

Hey, Bristol Palin. Let me know how lonely it is on that hypocritical pedestal
President Barack Obama’s endorsement for marriage equality has drawn some push back in many circles. Of all people, Bristol Palin has joined in on the criticism. I think it’s worth posting Palin’s entire comments so you can try to understand … (More…)
Bill would outlaw “ex-gay therapy,” Obama sides with humanity and other musings
(Editor’s note: sorry if I’m all over the place–my mind is racing right now with so many thoughts and ideas!) We need more states like California that are willing to consider banning this offensive, discriminatory faux therapy. Sen. Ted Lieu, a … (More…)
So, how about that post-racial America?
Since people still like to believe we are in some form of post-racial utopia as we’ve elected a black president, some folks just aren’t convinced. From Fox 5 Atlanta: Residents are upset about a sign in Paulding County that uses … (More…)
Cartoon shows President Barack Obama using Trayvon Martin for political gain
The above cartoon was posted at Townhall.com, and depicts President Barack Obama using the murder of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin for political gain. To be sure, this isn’t the first time this lazy political cartoonist has exploited conservative feelings about race … (More…)
Just when you thought the birther movement was over…
It appears to be back in full swing, and a twist of overt racism has been added to the mix! An Alaska resident has filed a lawsuit, claiming President Barack Obama can’t run for president because he’s mulatto. When was the last … (More…)
