Senator Byrd’s statement:

I believe that Barack Obama is a shining young statesman, who possesses the personal temperment and courage necessary to extricate our country from this costly misadventure in Iraq, and to lead our nation at this challenging time in history.

It seems that Sen. Obama may have a chance to win over white, blue collar Reagan Democrats who are skepitcal of him. I believe this endorsement from Sen. Byrd, whose state Sen. Obama lost by 41 points to Sen. Clinton in its primary, could help sway these voters to his campaign.

What do you make of this endorsement? What does this endorsement do to the morale of Sen. Clinton’s campaign and her supporters?
