If this is approved, Florida would be the first state to place a religious symbol that’s not apart of a college logo. Also, it’s certain that the approval would face a legal challenge. The plate’s sponsor, Rep. Edward Bullard, said this would give Florida drivers the opportunity to put a tag on their car that expresses “something they believe in.”
I have an obvious problem with this: if the legislature approves this, it would fly in the face of the first amendment. Florida would be showing obvious favoritism towards one religion, which is in direct conflict of our Constitution.
