>Apologizing for slavery?

>According to the New York Times, Florida’s legislature has passed a bill that apologizes for the state’s role in enslaving Africans.

The resolution expressed “profound regret” in the state’s role in “sanctioning and perpetuating involuntary servitude upon generations of African slaves.”

Other states such as North Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, Maryland and New Jersey have passed similar resolutions.

How do you feel about states “apologizing” for slavery? Does it make a difference to hear a body of government apologizing for slavery? Why or why not?
